When all the children of Israel saw how the fire came down, and the glory of the Lord on the temple, they bowed their faces to the ground on the pavement, and worshiped and praised the Lord, saying:

“For He is good,

For His mercy endures forever.”

2 Chronicles 7:3 (NKJV)

After Solomon finished his prayer dedicating the temple, fire came down from heaven and filled the temple with the glory of God, and the people responded by bowing their faces to the ground and worshiping the Lord. Gods' active presence was so great that the priests could not enter the temple. The people praised the Lord saying, "For He is good. For His mercy endures forever," because they knew that the fire signified that God has accepted the offering and was present among His people.

The fire of God comes down on Christians today in the form of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:3-4 says, " They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them." When we accept Christ as our Savior, the Holy Spirit comes down on us like a fire and consumes us, because God is now present with us. Our hearts are transformed and the Spirit gives us abilities to do things we would have never thought of doing before, like witnessing to others, strength when we feel weak, discerning truth from error, and an internal joy that comes from knowing our sins are forgiven.

Choose to let the fire of the Holy Spirt consume you, guiding you to worship Him in all you do. Write down the phrase, "For He is good, for His mercy endures forever," and place it on your refrigerator or have it as a screen saver on your phone or computer. Know that His words are true, that He has accepted you and is always present with you. Let God's fire come down on you and fill your heart and mind with His power to bring the unsaved to Him and start an all-consuming fire in your house, your community, and the world.
