Therefore, give to Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people, that I may discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of Yours? 1 Kings 3:9 (NKJV)

God talks to Solomon in a dream and says, "Ask! What shall I give you?" He could have asked for anything, but he asks for wisdom to rule God's people. Solomon's request for wisdom is a testament to his humility and selflessness. This request reflects his understanding of the responsibilities of leadership and the importance of divine guidance. Solomon's wisdom is legendary, and it is a reminder that true wisdom begins with the fear of the LORD and a desire to serve others rather than oneself. God rewarded Solomon for his request of wisdom by granting him a wise and discerning mind, so that none like him had been before him and none like him would arise after him. God also gave Solomon riches and honor, so that no other king would compare with him in wealth and wisdom. Additionally, God extended a conditional promise of a long life based on Solomon's obedience to His ways.

What would you ask for if God told you He would grant you anything you wanted? The #1 thing that people ask for today is "MORE." They want more success, more happiness, more passion, more money, and more good things. But God gives something that is more than anybody could want. He gives wisdom to understand and navigate life's complexities. Like Solomon, when we request wisdom, it is a profound choice, reflecting a deep desire for knowledge and guidance, living a life aligned with God's will. Jesus says in Matthew 6:33, "Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need." Asking for wisdom is seeking God first, above all things and then he will provide you everything you need.

Choose to recognize your limitations and the need for God's wisdom in your life. Study the scriptures, because God's wisdom is found in His Word. Pray for wisdom in your decisions and circumstances. Cultivate a fear of God, which means having a deep respect and reverence for Him, and is the foundation of wisdom. Fellowship with other believers who exhibit His wisdom and integrity. Maintain a teachable spirit and acknowledge your mistakes, growing from what you learn. When you ask for God's wisdom, He gives you so much more.
