And Asa cried out to the Lord his God, and said, ‘Lord, it is nothing for You to help, whether with many or with those who have no power; help us, O Lord our God, for we rest on You, and in Your name we go against this multitude. O Lord, You are our God; do not let man prevail against You!’ 2 Chronicles 14:11 (NKJV)
King Asa, son of Abijah did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, and he brought reform to all of Judah. Because of it, God brought him ten years of peace so that he could strengthen the nation. His force of five hundred and eighty thousand men was attacked by the Ethiopian army who had one million men and three hundred thousand chariots. Instead of turning to an ally to face the enemy, he turns to God, putting all his trust in Him. In response the Ethiopians were overthrown and broken before the Lord and Asa and his army received exceedingly much spoil.
God’s power is not limited by human strength or numbers. Whether in personal trials, spiritual warfare, or national crises, we can trust that God will not be thwarted and will deliver those who rely on Him. 2 Corinthians 12:9–10 says, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” When we make the statement, 'we rest on You,' we are telling God that we have complete trust in Him and we are placing all our hope in His provision.
No matter the situation, choose to acknowledge that you can't handle your struggle alone and that you need His help. Surender your worries to God and allow His peace to guard your heart and mind. Go to prayer and meditation on His word, seeking guidance and support from other believers. 2 Chronicles 14:11 says 'we rest on you', not I. By having a community of believers supporting and praying with you, it becomes easier to put your complete trust in Him and allow Him to conquer the armies that are attacking you.
