Then the king said to Zadok, “Carry the ark of God back into the city. If I find favor in the eyes of the Lord, He will bring me back and show me both it and His dwelling place. But if He says thus: ‘I have no delight in you,’ here I am, let Him do to me as seems good to Him.” 2 Samuel 15:25-26 (NKJV)
Absalom's conspires against his father, King David, using cunning tactics to win the hearts of the people of Israel, ultimately seeking to take over the throne. After forming a conspiracy in Hebron, David learns of Absalom's plans and decides to flee Jerusalem for his safety and the city's welfare. Zadok the Hight Priest, carrying the Ark of the Covenant was one of the people that followed David when he was fleeing Absalom. David sends Zadock and the Ark of the Covenant back to Jerusalem because he recognizes the Ark as a symbol of God's presence and the covenant between God and Israel. He trusts that if it is God's will, he will be brought back to Jerusalem as king. David's act is a demonstration of his commitment to God and his desire to lead the nation in covenant faithfulness.
People today feel a mix of frustration, confusion, and hopelessness. The world has become complex, with social issues like violence, climate change, and economic inequality. Many feel isolated despite being more connected than ever, and mental health challenges are on the rise. The future seems uncertain, and there is a growing sense of despair. However, faith remains a vital element for resilience and well-being. David teaches us that true faith involves surrendering control, trusting God's justice, and relying on His presence when facing personal betrayal or chaos. Jesus says in John 14:27, "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." God is bigger than this world, and no matter the situation, God has the ability to overcome our troubles. We just need to trust in Him when all seems lost.
Choose to trust in the peace that Jesus leaves with you when you are suffering. Strengthen your faith, with prayer, daily bible reading, and meditation. Start a daily journal and document what God has done in your life, so that when you are going through a hardship you can see what He has already done for you and build confidence in His faithfulness. Actively look for God's grace in everyday moments to shift your focus from difficulties. When we trust God in our suffering, we shift our focus from our immediate hardship to His eternal peace that surpasses all understanding.
