So Jehoiachin changed from his prison garments, and he ate bread regularly before the king all the days of his life. And as for his provisions, there was a regular ration given him by the king, a portion for each day, all the days of his life. 2 Kings 25:29-30 (NKJV)

King Nebuchadnezzar, making his final assault on Jerusalem, killed all the sons of Zedekiah, the last king of Judah. Then he put out his eyes, bound him, and took him captive to Babylon. He then carried all of Judah into captivity, except those of the poorest people of the land. All seemed lost for the people of Israel. They were no longer a mighty nation and there was no one left on the throne for the prophetic message of salvation. But there was hope. On the thirty-seventh year of captivity of Jehoiachin, there was a new king of Babylon, and he released him from prison and regular rations. Jehoiachin begot Shealtiel and the prophetic line of Jesus from the king of David was continued.

Because God was faithful with Israel, we now have hope in our lives and are no longer held in captivity. Romans 15:4 says, "For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope." When Jesus went to the cross and gave His live for all on earth, hope was restored. We no longer have to live in fear of eternal damnation, because God was faithful with the Jews, and He is faithful with us today. Even though His people were taken into captivity, He provided a way for them, and He provides for us today through His Son, Jesus.

Choose to make Jesus your hope. Accept Him, as your Lord and Savior and receive the gift of hope that comes from God. 1 Timothy 4:10 says, "That is why we labor and strive, because we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all people, and especially of those who believe." Choose to do what Jesus commissioned you to do and share His gospel with those that God leads you to. When God uses you to bring someone to Christ, you provide hope to a hopeless world.
