Joseph couldn’t believe what his fiancée was telling him. They had done just fine for the last six years without Him in their lives. In a year they would be done with college, and they had their whole life before them. Why would she want God in their lives telling them what they could and could not do? What was this newfound faith that she had and why couldn’t she be with him if he didn’t want to accept it.

He needed to get away from it all and do some thinking, so Joseph planned a one-hundred-mile hike on the Pacific Crest Trail. On the trail, he is rescued from a cougar attack by an old man with a staff. Joseph is intrigued by the intricate carvings on the staff and is told by the old man that each represents an event in his life. Joseph accepts the old man’s invitation to join him on the hike, to hear the stories behind each carving. As he transverses the Cascade Range, Joseph is slowly changed from within and is transformed into the man that God wants him to be.

The Staff is about one man’s journey to find himself at a crossroad in his life, who meets an old man who has lived through it all. It is about sharing our struggles and victories in Christ with a non-believing world. When life leaves you with a choice, what path will you take?
