“The Lord lives!
Blessed be my Rock!
Let God be exalted,
The Rock of my salvation!

2 Samuel 22:47 (NKJV)

David is at the end of his reign, and his kingdom is at peace, so he writes a song declaring all the God has done for him. In his song he makes a powerful declaration of who God is to him. It emphasizes God's eternal existence, His role as a protector, and His as the source of salvation. The term "rock" symbolizes stability and reliability, portraying God as a steadfast foundation in the midst of life's storms. By referring to God as the "rock of my salvation," David emphasizes that true salvation comes from God alone.

David said it all when he said the Lord lives, and like David, we have a rock of salvation who is God in the flesh. 1 Corinthians 10:4 says, “And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.” Jesus is the solid rock upon which believers can stand firm and find stability in times of trouble. Secondly, He is described as a rock of refuge and protection, offering shelter and security to those who trust in Him. Jesus is also the Rock of salvation, providing a way for humanity to be reconciled with God through His sacrifice on the cross. Jesus is alive and He lives in all who believe.

Read David's song in 2 Samuel 22 and think of all that Jesus has done for you. Declare that Jesus is the Rock of your salvation in your heart and for all to hear. Praising Jesus is not just a Sunday morning activity while you are at church, but an everyday activity. Start each morning with prayer and meditation, praising God for all he has done in your life. Write down 2 Samuel 22:47 and put it on your refrigerator, next to your computer monitor, in your purse or wallet, next to your bed, or make it your background on your phone. Go to it whenever you feel weak and speak the words outload, and He will comfort you. The Lord lives! and He is always there for you.
