Nevertheless, they will be his servants, that they may distinguish My service from the service of the kingdoms of the nations. 2 Chronicles 12:8 (NKJV)

Rehoboam had a kingdom, living in peace and under God's guidance handed to him by his father, Solomon, but he forsook it all. His pride caused the nation to split in two weakening it and he was unfaithful to God. So, God brought Shishak, king of Egypt against him and put Judah under servitude to them so that they would know the difference between serving God and the world.

1 John 2:15-17 says, “Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.” Serving God involves spiritual devotion and alignment with divine principles, while serving the world often focuses on material pursuits and personal desires. As Christians, we are pulled between the two and often face internal conflict because our flesh wants the things of the world. When we acknowledge our 'flesh' and focus on the eternal rewards of serving God, we find freedom and peace in our lives.

Choose the freedom that comes from serving God and find peace. Acknowledge the freedom from sins' penalty you received when you accepted Christ as your savoir, and gain the power over sin, the courage in trials, and the hope beyond the grave. Choose to see the God's hand in your victories, no matter how small, and stay rooted in His promises with daily prayer and bible reading. Find a place to serve God in your home, church, and your community. When you choose to serve God over your flesh, you will experience spiritual transformation, freedom, and a life of holiness.
