Teach me what I do not see; If I have done iniquity, I will do no more? Job 34:32 (NKJV)

While addressing Job and his friends during a debate about suffering and divine justice, Elihu tells the men that everyone has blind spots, and they need to ask God to show them so that they can repent and move on. Elihu wants the men to recognize their human limitations and the need for divine illumination to uncover hidden faults. Once their sin is revealed, they need to be committed to repent, put it away, and change their behavior. Elihu emphasizes that God is the ultimate authority and source of wisdom, and humans should humbly accept His guidance rather than challenge His righteousness.

There are more times than I can utter in which the scripture has showed me sins in my life that I need to work on. This is true for all humans. Jesus says in Matthew 13:13, “This is why I speak to them in parables: ‘Though seeing, they do not see; though hearing, they do not hear or understand.’” Jesus explains that some people have physical sight but lack spiritual perception, needing God’s word to reveal what is hidden. As believers we need to understand that our knowledge is still limited to unfathomable wisdom of God and that there may be areas that we fall short, but don't realize it. Paul said in 2 Timothy 3:16 that scripture is inspired by God to correct and teach us the way we should go. All we need to do is ask God to teach us what we do not see.

Choose to ask God to show your iniquities and guide you in the path that He wants you to go by opening your heart and mind to His guidance while trusting His timing and purposes. Before reading the bible each morning, pray the words, "teach me Lord, what you want me to see." Remember to read your bible every day because the more you read, the more God will show you. Be open to God teaching you in the ordinary and “mundane moments” of your life such as work, in relationships, or in quiet daily routines. God may be speaking to you through them. Attend church regularly and do not forsake gathering with other believers in home studies and outings. God teaches through your pastor and through other believers that you interact with. Remember that you may read a passage or hear a sermon and not get anything from it but in the future, you receive a whole world on insight from one verse. That is because it is about God's timing, and He teaches you what you do not see when the time is right for you.
