And he did what was right in the sight of the Lord, and walked in all the ways of his father David; he did not turn aside to the right hand or to the left. 2 Kings 22:2 (NKJV)

One of the most wicked eras in Judah's history under King Manasseh, was followed by one of the most righteous rulers, King Hezekiah. He followed the Lord wholeheartedly and he did not compromise on his beliefs. He started the restoration of Judah, by repairing the damages to the house of the Lord done by his father. While counting the money for the repairs, Hilkiah, the high priest found the Book of the Law and read in it's entirely to King Hezekiah. After hearing the words, he tore his clothes, humbling himself before the Lord, and then sought godly counsel. Before leading an entire nation in revival, King Hezekiah had to start with himself.

Just like King Hezekiah, revival starts with each of us. Acts 3:19 says, "Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord." A revival is a reawaking or refreshing of our fervor for the Lord, where we examine and make ourselves right with God. We can get into the rut of making bible reading, prayer, and church attendance a mundane act that we need to do to appease our Lord. But that is not what our relationship with God is supposed to be. We need to become invigorated, excited, and full of the power of God, celebrating what He has done for us. When we have the right mind and spirit, revival starts in us, leading others for follow and bringing the world to revival.

God may put a fire in your heart about bringing about revival, but true revival starts in your heart. Choose to worship with all your heart, striving to live a holy life, and showing repentance with a joyful heart, because revival is seen by those around you and is infectious, leading them in a closer relationship with God. Once, you bring revival to your heart, you can bring it to your family, your friends, your church, your community, and maybe even the world.
