However, I did not believe their words until I came and saw with my own eyes; and indeed, the half of the greatness of your wisdom was not told me. You exceed the fame of which I heard. 2 Chronicles 9:6 (NKJV)

When the queen of Sheba heard of King Solomon's fame, she paid him a visit to test his wisdom because she wanted to experience firsthand the wisdom of the God of Israel. She asked him very hard questions and there was nothing too difficult for him to answer. She was impressed and told him that the reputation of his wisdom was half that she had experienced firsthand. The queen of Sheba then acknowledged the Lord and what He had done for Solomon and all of Israel.

Our reputation as Christians is a big influence in leading people to Christ. As Christians, we are representing God, and the world is watching us to see if we are 'walking our talk.' James, the brother of Jesus said, “My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry.” (James 1:19) There are unbelievers that are on the fence about Christ, and may test our faith, looking to see if what they heard about us is true. We may initially think they are attacking us, but when we take the time to listen to them, think about what they said, and give them an answer that comes from God's wisdom, we show them God in our lives.

Choose to make your reputation as a Christian one that leads people to Jesus. Pray each morning asking for God to use you in building His kingdom and meditate on the scriptures to fill you with the His wisdom. Have a heart that shows Jesus' love so that you can answer the hard questions like "why did God take my child?" Talk to your pastor or elder in your church on how to answer the hard questions. Live a life that mirrors Jesus, so that when someone checks your reputation, they can say it is only half of who you really are.
