Lead me, O Lord, in Your righteousness because of my enemies; Make Your way straight before my face. Psalm 5:8 (NKJV)

David wrote psalm 5 in a distressing period of his life in a time when his enemies verbally oppressed him and his rule. David asks God for guidance and direction in the face of his adversaries, directing his path clearly, ensuring that his actions align with divine will and justice, especially when confronted by deceitful individuals. David starts the psalm by asking God to hear his words and hear his cry for help, acknowledging God as his King and his God. He knows that if he allows it, the world will lead him astray and the only way to keep his path straight is to rely on the Lord for guidance.

Just as in David's time, we live in a world that wants to lead us away from God. It is a world that tries to distort, replace, or weaken the truth of God’s Word by deception, distorting scripture, and worldly compromise. The world tries to tell us that the truths of the bible were written for the people in biblical times and do not apply to us today. The world will say that it doesn't apply to the today's standards which are dictated by the changing moral standards of a degrading society of what is good for me. Jesus said in Matthew 24:35, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.” The truths of biblical times are the truths of today, leading us in a righteous path, based in love for our God and the people around us.

Choose to allow God to lead you in righteousness, guiding every step of your path. Trust Him fully, seeking His direction through prayer and Scripture, and obeying His leading in every aspect of life. Start each day with prayer asking for His guidance and direction, protecting you from the misdirection of the world. Read His word daily and ask yourself, how does it apply to me and how have I deviated from the path He set. Trust in His guidance, even when the world is saying that you are wrong. His ways are right and true. Choose to live your life, loving like Jesus, putting the love of God and others in your heart. Matthew 22:37-39 says, "Jesus replied: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’" When you trust God to lead you and live the two greatest commandments, you live on a path of God's righteousness.
