Lay Your Burdens Before God

2 Kings 19:14 Hezekiah was in trouble and he chose the one option that could truly deliver him. Like Hezekiah, when we lay our burdens before God, He delivers us.

And Hezekiah received the letter from the hand of the messengers and read it; and Hezekiah went up to the house of the Lord and spread it before the Lord. 2 Kings 19:14 (NKJV)

In response to Rabshakeh's threats, King Hezekiah went with his servants to the temple and prayed to the Lord for deliverance. Judah was given some rest when Rabshakeh returned to Assyria to find his king warring against Libnah. So, King Sennacherib sent a threating letter letting King Hezekiah know that once Assyria was done with Libnah, they would be the next to fall. Hezekiah's first response was to go to the house of the Lord and lay the letters before God and pray before Him. God responded by sending an angel to the Assyrian camp and killing one hundred and eighty-five thousand soldiers in one night.

Like King Hezekiah, when we are faced with the burdens of this life, we need to lay them down before the Lord. Jesus says in Matthew 11:28, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." When we lay our burdens before God, we invite Him to take on our struggles and provide us with comfort and strength, acknowledging His sovereignty and willingness to support us in times of need. We open ourselves to His guidance, comfort, and the peace that transcends understanding. We are not alone in our challenges, and that God is always ready to help us carry our burdens.

Choose to believe that God can carry any burden that you may have. He made you and the universe so there is nothing too heavy for Him. Pray and communicate your feelings honestly to Him and trust that He can handle it. Go to your pastor, the church, and other believers, and have them pray for you. There is power in communal prayer. Choose to release the burden to Jesus, who made himself man, so that all who come to Him will have rest. When you submit to God and lay your burdens before Him, you acquire a peace that surpasses all understanding.
