Will the wild ox be willing to serve you? Will he bed by your manger? Job 39:9 (NKJV)
God’s questions Job about mountain goats, wild ox, and other animals reveal the intricate design and purpose in every creature. Through the Lords questions Job realizes that God is the only one that knows the lives of all creatures and needs to appreciate God's hand in every detail of the natural world. God asks Job to think about the wild ox, that represents a strong, untamable animal. He wants to show Job to show the limits of human power and understanding, and that God alone has authority over all creation.
When we approach God knowing our limitations, we enter a space of humility, trust, and openness that the Lord presents as a pathway to His presence and work in our lives. Jesus says in John 15:5, “I am the vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in Me, and I in him, will bear much fruit. For apart from Me you can do nothing.” The vine represents Jesus, the source of life and spiritual nourishment, while the branches symbolize believers who draw their strength, guidance, and purpose from Him. Just as branches cannot survive or produce fruit without being connected to the vine, we cannot thrive spiritually or accomplish God’s purposes apart from Christ.
Choose to know your limitations and graft on to the One True Vine that is Jesus Christ. Cultivate a deep, abiding relationship with Jesus through prayer, scripture, and obedience, ensuring that your life reflects His character and bears fruit that honors God. Become dependent on Him, knowing your limitations and allowing Him to guide you even though you may feel weak. When you know your limitations and put your trust in Jesus, life flows from Him into you, providing love, joy, and peace, and He calls you friend.
