Joyful Obedience

2 Samuel 6:14-15 Samuel brought the Ark into Jerusalem with joy, dancing, and shouts to the Lord. Like David, we need to bring God into our houses with joy and dancing.

Then David danced before the Lord with all his might; and David was wearing a linen ephod. So, David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the Lord with shouting and with the sound of the trumpet. 2 Samuel 6:14-15 (NKJV)

David knew it was time to bring the ark back to Jerusalem, but his first attempt was disastrous because he ignored God's specific instructions. He used a cart which was the Philistine method instead of having priests carry it showing a worldly, rather than holy approach. When Uzzah was killed for accidently touching the ark, David left it in the house of Obed-Edom for three months while he inquired into the correct way of transporting the ark. The second attempt to bring ark to Jerusalem was successful because David was obedient to God's law, proceeding with deep devotion, and humbling himself before the Lord, instead of doing it his own way.

Where do you choose to praise the Lord? Is it only at church and do raise your hands to the Lord? Do people see Jesus when they enter your home? Ephesians 5:19 says, "speak to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord." The Lord must first be kept in your heart. The praise you sing to the Lord comes from your heart and is more than just on Sunday. It is an everyday thing and needs to start at home. When you have joyful obedience, your life and your house will be blessed.

Choose to bring the Lord into your house. Listen to praise and worship at home, raising your hands to God and focusing on His goodness. Have your bible out where you can access it easily, not on some shelf. Have Alexa give you a verse of the day. Create a quiet corner or space for prayer and reflection. Place bible verses on sticky notes around your home. Make worship at home a lifestyle of keeping God at the forefront of you mind throughout the entire day with joyful obedience.
