“Yours, O LORD, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty; for all that is in heaven and in earth is Yours. Yours is the kingdom, O LORD, and You are exalted as head over all.” 1 Chronicles 29:11 (NKJV)

David led by example, giving from his personal treasuries to build the temple, inspiring the leaders of Israel to give greatly. Everyone rejoiced because with a loyal heart they gave willingly to the Lord. David then blessed the Lord in front of the whole assembly, giving all the honor and glory to God acknowledging His majesty, His sovereignty, His greatness, and His power. David knew that God created everything and all that he had, and everything on earth belonged to God.

Like David, we need to acknowledge God's place in our lives. Colossians 1:16 says, “For in Him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through Him and for Him.” All creation, spiritual and physical, was made through and for God and we need to give to Him because He first gave to us. We first need to give Him all the honor and glory for all that we are and all that we have, and then we need to give of our resources to Him because it all God's.

Choose to have a mind centered on God and acknowledge His rightful position in your life. Make Him part of everything you do throughout the day because He is the reason for everything in existence. Choose to give back to God what He has provided to you. It does not just have to be tithes and offerings, but your time and service. Ask your pastor, "Where can I be of service in the church?" Volunteer to feed the homeless, do yard work for the elderly or widows, donate to shelter, pray for local leaders, or help with a community program that your church supports. When you have the mindset that it is all God's, it is easier to give back and bring people to Christ, one person at a time.
