Then Jonathan said to the young man who bore his armor, “Come, let us go over to the garrison of these uncircumcised; it may be that the Lord will work for us. For nothing restrains the Lord from saving by many or by few.” 1 Samuel 14:6 (NKJV)
Under Sauls command the Israelite army is in a state of disarray. Saul has made some poor choices, and he is doomed to defeat. Then Jonathan, knowing he has God on his side, makes a bold move. He and his armor bearer take on a Philistine garrison and kill 20 men causing widespread panic in the entire Philistine force. God causes the Philistines to turn on each other in confusion and they begin killing one another. Seeing the chaos, Saul's forces rush in to join the battle pursing the fleeing Philistines. While the initial act was small, it unleashed divine intervention against a massive force that significantly outnumbered Israel, making the victory miraculous.
It takes courage to share Jesus with others. It is not an easy thing for most people to do because of fear. We fear that we will look like an idiot, we will stand out, we will be talked about, we will say something wrong, or we may lose a friendship and be rejected by others. We need to be like Jonathan and make a bold move, because Satan is using our fear to keep us from doing God's work. 2 Timothy 1:7 says, "For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline." God will put it your heart to share Jesus with someone, and that person may share Jesus with a few, who will share with many more. It's a snowball effect. God uses your bold move to share Jesus with just one person to save a multitude of people.
Be courageous like Jonathan and share Jesus with people. Share what you know and keep it personal and concrete. Trust that God's Spirit provides the power and courage needed to share your faith. Shift your focus from fear to gratitude and the mercy of God. Seek God's help and guidance in your conversations. Be ready to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. Jesus saved you and gave you a new life, so let them know about that life. When you bring someone to Jesus, you start a snowball effect that will save a multitude of people.
