Then hear from heaven Your dwelling place, and forgive, and give to everyone according to all his ways, whose heart You know (for You alone know the hearts of the sons of men), that they may fear You, to walk in Your ways as long as they live in the land which You gave to our fathers 2 Chronicles 6:30–31 (NKJV)
The work has been completed on the temple and Solomon prays a prayer of dedication stating that the temple will be a place where all people, even strangers can come to find healing and forgiveness of sins. In his dedication prayer, he asks God to hear from heaven the requests of the everyone who enters and give to everyone according to their ways, because He knows their hearts. In verse 30, King Solomon states that God sees beyond the outward actions to the true motivations within each person.
Like those who came to the temple seeking God's help, we can approach God with confidence, knowing that the Spirit understands our innermost thoughts and aligns our prayers with God’s purposes. Romans 8:27 says, “And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.” God knows our hearts and He sees our motives, judges our intentions, and uses that knowledge to guide, accept, and transform us.
Choose to pray from the heart, not just a ritualistic prayer that you may have be taught and do each day out of habit. When you pray, it needs to come from within and every word you pray needs to have reverence to Him. Jesus taught you the Lord's prayer as a model for you to pray and not a ritualistic chant to say each day. Start your prayer by giving God all the glory for all in your life, then invite His will and priorities into your decisions, followed by asking for His provision. Confess your sins to God, asking for forgiveness and be willing to forgive those who have wronged you before Him. Finish your prayer by asking for the strength to resist temptation and live in holiness. God knows your heart and acts according to what comes from within.
