Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus; and the Syrians became David’s servants and brought tribute. So, the Lord preserved David wherever he went. 2 Samuel 8:6 (NKJV)

David's victories were not solely due to his military prowess but were a result of God's favor upon him. Despite his successes, David remained humble, recognizing that his success was due to God's favor. Knowing that God was behind all his victories, David dedicated the spoils of war to God, showing gratitude and commitment to His work. David chose to seek God's guidance in his life and to live in a way that honored Him and obtained God's favor.

Does God favor one person over the other? The answer is God offers everyone an equal chance to receive His help and blessings through faith. Like David, by aligning our actions with God's will, we can expect His help in our pursuits. Hebrews 11:6 says, “And without faith, it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” God brought Noah through the storm, He raised Joseph to the second most powerful person in Egypt and made Mary the mother of Jesus. God favored all three because they earnestly sought Him and the same goes for us today.

Choose to seek God first and obtain His favor. He will bring you through the storm, He will raise you up, and He will put you in a place of honor. Show others that by first believing in the Lord Jesus, you received the most important favor from God: Salvation from death and an eternal life in heaven with God. Then choose to live a life of obedience, seek wisdom, humble yourselves, bless others, and in everything you seek, do it in prayer: And God will favor you.
