God Sees Our Potential

Judges 6:12 God chooses Gideon, the weakest person from the weakest clan in the tribe of Manassa to beat the Midianites. Just like Gideon, God uses Christians who think they have nothing to offer.

And the Angel of the Lord appeared to him, and said to him, “The Lord is with you, you mighty man of valor!” Judges 6:12

The Midianites had oppressed Israel for seven years and was destroying their agricultural products, thus impoverishing the Israelites. So, The Angel of the Lord, Jesus, appears to Gideon and tells him that God is with him, and he is a mighty man of valor. The first thing Gideon says to The Angel of the Lord, is if God is with us, why has all this happened to us. Then Jesus says to him, you shall save Israel from the hand of the Midianites. Who? Me? Gideon says. I am the weakest person, from the weakest clan of the tribe of Manassa. Gideon thought very little of himself and his faith was weak, but God was going to use him to save Israel from the Midianites.

God sees our potential, and He asks for just a little faith. In Matthew 17:20, Jesus says. “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” I know of a pastor in Portland, who was a homeless man addicted to drugs and God called him build a ministry where the unhoused had a place to go and find healing. His organization now has 22 recovery homes in the Portland area, and he has changed hundreds of lives for the better. It doesn't have to be something as big as that. God may call you to share a meal with a homeless person and talk to them about Jesus. You may change that person's life and lead them in a direction that saves many lives. All you need is just a little faith, no matter how insignificant you feel.

Choose to follow what God calls you to do. You may see a homeless person when you come out of a fast-food place and God puts a thought into your heart. Go back and buy the person a burger and shake. Not only share your food but share your time. Listen to the person and share the Gospel with them. God may call you to something different. Listen to him. We may feel weak and insignificant when it comes to the world's problems, but that is just us falling for Satan's lies. God made us for a purpose and calls us 'mighty', no matter what we think of ourselves. It just takes a little faith.
