But Jehosheba, the daughter of King Joram, sister of Ahaziah, took Joash the son of Ahaziah, and stole him away from among the king’s sons who were being murdered; and they hid him and his nurse in the bedroom, from Athaliah, so that he was not killed. So, he was hidden with her in the house of the Lord for six years, while Athaliah reigned over the land. 2 Kings 11:2-3 (NKJV)
When Athaliah found out her son, King Ahaziah had been killed, she had all his sons killed so that she could take the throne. But the infant, Joash was taken from the king's palace and hidden in the Lord's house. After six years of protection, Joash was crowned king of Judah by Jehoida the priest at the age of seven. Joash was escorted by one hundred men to the palace and Athaliah was slayed with the sword along with her followers. Jehoiada rallied the people, who tore down the temple of Baal and killed the priests of Baal, establishing the true worship for God once again.
Like King Joash, God protects us from evil. 2 Thessalonians 3:3 says, “But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one.” God protects us from the evil one through His divine presence, the support of angels, the spiritual armor He provides, and the assurance of His faithfulness. By trusting in Him and remaining vigilant, we can navigate life's challenges with confidence, knowing we are under His watchful care. Ephesians 6:11-12 says, "Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms."
Choose to claim God's protection. Print out Ephesian's 6:10-18 and post it somewhere where you can access it. Write it out on a notecard and refer to it when you feel you are being attacked by the evil one. Choose to strengthen yourself with daily prayer, bible reading, and reflection on His word. Don't fight the attacks of the evil one alone but bring in fellow believers who will help you triumph over the evil one's schemes. You do not need to fear evil, because God is on your side and He protects you.
