He also put garrisons in Edom, and all the Edomites became David’s servants. And the Lord preserved David wherever he went. 1 Chronicles 18:13 (NKJV)
David had victories over the Edomites, Syrians, Moabites, Philistines, and many more nations because he trusted the Lord to preserve him. David’s victories were not solely due to his own skill but were guided by God. David acknowledges God's role in his victories in Psalm 16:1-3, when he says, "Preserve me, O God, for in You I put my trust. O my soul, you have said to the Lord, “You are my Lord, my goodness is nothing apart from You.” As for the saints who are on the earth, “They are the excellent ones, in whom is all my delight.”" Because David put his trust in the Lord, he achieved great military victories.
Like David our victories come from God, and he preserves us when we trust in Him. 2 Timothy 1:12 says, "But I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed, and I am convinced that he is able to guard until that day what has been entrusted to me." Paul was in a Roman dungeon when he wrote 2 Timothy, and reminds us to remain steadfast in our faith, even in the face of persecution and adversity. It encourages us to trust in God's faithfulness and protection, even when we face difficult circumstances.
Choose to trust God and let Him preserve you in your trials and in everyday life. When you trust in God and depend on His guidance, you become aware of God's presence and strength, which can lead to a sense of peace and comfort. You learn to rely on God's wisdom and plan, even when you don't understand everything. Strengthen yourself for your battles by praying and mediating on the bible every day. When you start your day out with God, your life is transformed by setting a positive tone and inviting His guidance into your daily activities. The God of David is our God, and like David, He preserves us.
