Then a man of God came and spoke to the king of Israel, and said, “Thus says the Lord: ‘Because the Syrians have said, “The Lord is God of the hills, but He is not God of the valleys,” therefore I will deliver all this great multitude into your hand, and you shall know that I am the Lord.’ ” 1 Kings 20:28 (NKJV)

Ben-Haden, king of Syria gathered thirty-two kings and besieged Samaria. King Ahab of Israel was going to surrender to Ben-Haden until a prophet told him that God was going to use the young leaders of Isreal to bring about a victory. Ben-Haden's army experienced a great slaughter, and he was able to escape to his land. Ben-Haden surmised that he lost because Israel's God was the God of the hills and he would bring a larger force to the valleys, where God was not present, and beat Isreal there. Then a man of God appeared to Ahab to let him know that the Lord was going to bring a great victory in the plains to show that He was the God of everything. Just as God had said, the children of Israel killed one hundred thousand of Ben-Haden's foot-soldiers and had a major military victory over Syria.
