But will God indeed dwell on the earth? Behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain You. How much less this temple which I have built! 1 Kings 8:27 (NKJV)

The construction of the temple is complete, and the people of Israel gather to celebrate the Ark of the Covenant being brought into its rightful place. Solomon makes a declaration of God's greatness, during his prayer of dedication. He recognizes that the heavens and the highest heavens cannot contain God, emphasizing His infinite nature and omnipresence, underscoring the limitations of human-made structures in containing the divine. He acknowledges that even the most magnificent temple cannot confine God, who exists beyond physical boundaries.

Where do we go to seek God? Most of us go to church to seek God, but He is so much greater than a building that we meet in to worship Him. Acts 17:24 says, "The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands." God is omnipresent, which means He is everywhere and in everything in our universe. As believers, we need to acknowledge Him in everything we do and everywhere we go. He created the universe and everything in it for us and when we sinned, He sent his only Son to die for us, so that we could experience it all with Him forever.

Choose to seek God in everything you do, remembering that He is always with you. Seek God in your prayers, when you read His word, when you are alone, and when you meet with other believers. Seek God at work, in your home, at church, and on vacation. See God through the people you meet, a newborn child, the mountains that you hike, in the night sky, and in all His great creations. Know that God is always there because He is greater than everything in your life.
