Now the Lord came and stood and called as at other times, “Samuel! Samuel!” And Samuel answered, “Speak, for Your servant hears.” 1 Samuel 3:10 (NKJV)

Chapter 3 starts by saying that the word of the Lord is rare in Israel and there is no widespread revelation. To make thing worse, there is corruption in the house of the Lord, so, God calls Samuel. At first Samuel thinks it's Eli the priest and goes to him. Eli tells Samuel it is not him, and after the third time, tells Samuel that it must be the Lord and to say, "Speak Lord, for your servant hears," when the Lord calls. God does call again and Samuel listens. He tells Samuel that He is going to 'clean house' and do away with the corruption in Eli's household. Samuel reluctantly tells Eli about what is going to happen. Eli, knowing that he is partly to blame, accepts his fate. Samuel grows in stature and God appears again to Samuel in Shiloh to use him to start His spiritual revival in all of Israel.

More than ever, our world needs spiritual revival, and God is calling Christians to step up and spread his word of peace. God is calling to us, and we need to listen. Matthew 4:19 says, "Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” You do not need to be a pastor to start a revival. God can use any one he wants. Revival first starts in your heart. You need to get rid of the corruption and anything that is keeping you from God. Then he may want you to bring revival to your household, your community, your state, your country, or even the world. God can use anyone to do anything. You must first listen when God calls you.

Choose to listen to what God is calling you to do. Talk to your pastor to see where you can serve. Maybe he wants you to start a prayer group or a bible study, teach Sunday school, spread Jesus' love in a community event, or even organize a revival. He may just be calling you to invite the neighbors to come to church with you. Just say "speak, for Your servant hears," when God calls you.
