Now acquaint yourself with Him and be at peace; Thereby good will come to you. Job 22:21 (NKJV)
Eliphaz continues his attack on Job's integrity, accusing him of wickedness and attempting to explain his suffering. He makes up some fabricated charges concerning the way Job achieved his wealth, and then tells him to yield to God, find peace in Him and good will come to him. While Eliphaz’s understanding of suffering is limited, assuming it results from sin, he still conveys a timeless principle: peace with God boosts overall wellness.
Like Job, we are encouraged to develop a personal knowledge and relationship with God, not merely acknowledging His existence, but finding inner tranquility and spiritual well-being that comes from trusting God, even amid trials. Philippians 4:7 says, "and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” God’s peace acts as a shield over our emotions and thoughts, preserving mental and emotional well-being and helping us maintain joy, hope, and stability despite anxiety, fear, or turmoil. We find peace in God by trusting the work that Jesus did for us on the cross.
Choose to yield to God’s authority and wisdom, recognizing that His ways are higher than human understanding. Deepen your relationship with Jesus through prayer, worship, and scripture reading, choosing to replace worry with prayer and gratitude, trusting God’s control over life’s circumstances. When you find peace in God, you let God’s peace influence your thoughts, helping you respond calmly and wisely to all challenging situations.
