And the angel of the Lord said to Elijah, “Go down with him; do not be afraid of him.” So, he arose and went down with him to the king. 2 Kings 1:15 (NKJV)

Elijah intercepts messengers that King Ahaziah sent to inquire of the pagan god, Baal-Zebub about his health, and tells them because there is no god in Israel, he would surely die. The king is angry and sends fifty soldiers to apprehend Elijah and bring him back to the palace. They find Elijah sitting on a hill and God brings down fire and consumes them when they try to apprehend Elijah. Another fifty are sent out and consumed by fire, but the captain of the third group falls on his knees, begging for Elijahs mercy because he knows God protects him. Elijah goes with the soldiers because he is led by God and gives King Ahaziah the same prophecy that he gave to his messengers.

As believers we can be assured of God's protection. Romans 8:31-32 says, “If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?” This passage reassures us of God’s ultimate protection and provision. God is always with us in every situation and provides spiritual and physical safeguards. It is important to know that God doesn't keep us out of trials (Jesus said we would have trials), but He brings us through our trials by the promise of His presence, strength, and guidance through every challenge we face. By leaning on His word and trusting in His plans, we can find peace and security in the knowledge that God is our protector.

Choose to declare, "God is my refuge, and He protects me!" Believe it in your heart and say it out loud in your house. Pray daily for His protection and guidance, choosing to put complete faith and confidence in Him. Trusting God rather than relying on your own strength or worldly security allows you to experience His divine protection. Look for memory verses about God's protection, like Psalm 3:3, Psalm 18:2, Psalm 91:2, or 1 John 5:18 and write them down on an index card. My memory verse is "Heal me O Lord, and I shall be healed; Save me and I will be saved; For You are my praise", Jerimiah 17:14. God is there for you and He provides divine protection: Just believe it!
