He arose and attacked the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand stuck to the sword. The Lord brought about a great victory that day; and the people returned after him only to plunder. 2 Samuel 23:10 (NKJV)

Eleazer, the son of Dodo, the Ahohite was one of the three chief warriors of David's three hundred mighty men. He alone stood against the Philistine army when the rest of the men of Isreal fled. Because of his dedication to God and David's kingdom he defeated the Philistines when everyone else thought the battle was lost. The rest of the Isreal army only returned for the spoil after the battle was over. Eleazer showed that through courage in God's strength he was able to face adversity and become victorious.

Courage in the face of adversity is not the absence of fear, but the judgment that something else is more important. It is acting in spite of fear. John 16:33 says, “I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take courage; I have overcome the world!" The courage that we have comes from Jesus Christ who was the ultimate example of courage in the face of adversity and faced the cross with resolve and obedience to the Father's will. In the Garden of Gethsemane, He prayed, "My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me. Yet not as I will, but as You will". His sacrifice exemplifies the highest form of courage in the face of suffering.

Choose to go to Jesus for your strength when facing adversities such as physical, mental, emotional, social, spiritual, and financial obstacles. Reflect on Christ's example to give you strength and hope in difficult times. Turn to prayer for guidance and strength in your faith. Remember that prayer is a powerful tool for connecting with God and finding comfort in His presence. Share your faith with others, especially those who are facing adversity. Your testimony can be a source of encouragement and hope. Trust in God's plan for your life and he will bring you through your difficult times. Through Christ we can have the courage to face our adversities.
