The ark of God remained with the family of Obed-Edom in his house three months. And the Lord blessed the house of Obed-Edom and all that he had. 1 Chronicles 13:14 (NKJV)

David decided to bring the Ark of the Covenant from Kirjath Jearim to Jerusalem, but on the way Uzza the Levite touched the Ark when the oxen stumbled and died. Because of the tragedy, David left the Ark in the house of Obed-Edom for three months and went back to Jerusalem to figure out what he did wrong. The Lord blessed Obed-Edom and all that he had, because he received the Ark with reverence, obedience, and faith.

Like Obed-Edom, when we receive the Lord into our homes, He blesses us. Revelation 3:20 says, “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.” God's presence does not just belong only in a church building, but He needs to dwell in your home also. When God is in your home, peace, protection, and supernatural favor comes with Him. Children learn to pray, spouses grow in love, and all members are strengthened in faith, drawing them closer. When God is in the house, His love permeates all, and our lives are blessed.

Choose to invite God into your house. Make the conscious decision to pray together and read the word as a family, setting a time and place where everyone seeks Him together. Just half an hour before bed, around the kitchen table or in the living room with the tv off and phones put away will honor God. It doesn't matter where and when, as long as you receive God with reverence, obedience, and faith. If you want to do more, start a home group and invite friends and church members into your house to worship and study HIs word. Bringing God into your house blesses you and everyone that enters in your home.
