As for the Almighty, we cannot find Him; He is excellent in power, in judgment and abundant justice; He does not oppress. Therefore men fear Him; He shows no partiality to any who are wise of heart. Job 37:23‑24 (NKJV)
Elihu wraps up his discourse to Job and his friends by declaring the majesty and justice of God. Elihu uses the vivid imagery of a storm, using the thunder, lightning and gusts of wind to reveal God's control over creation and the limits to human understanding. God’s nature and presence are beyond human reach or complete understanding, therefore, people should respond with reverent awe, not terror. Human wisdom, no matter how great, cannot override or impress God.
Even though we do not know of the complete majesty of God on earth, we are to strive to know Him better each and every day of our lives, until we get to heaven. By seeking to know God better, we gain the wisdom that only comes from above. 1 Corinthians 13:12 says, “For now we see in a mirror dimly but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.” Getting to know God is a lifelong process that will only be complete when we get to heaven and see Him face to face. In heaven, our knowledge will grow progressively, as we spend eternity learning more about God’s character, works, and the immeasurable, sacrificial, and eternal love of Jesus.
Chose to get to know God personally and invite Jesus into your life as Lord and Savior if you have not done so already. Read and reflect on the Bible daily which is crucial for understanding God’s character, His will, and His promises. As you study Scripture, ask yourself what it reveals about God’s love, justice, mercy, and plan for your life. Engage in fellowship with other believers to provide encouragement, instruction, accountability in your journey to know Him more. Getting to know God is a lifelong journey because He is far beyond human comprehension, and there will always be something new to learn.
