And David said to his son Solomon, “Be strong and of good courage, and do it; do not fear nor be dismayed, for the Lord God—my God—will be with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you, until you have finished all the work for the service of the house of the Lord. 1 Chronicles 28:20 (NKJV)
As David turns the task of building the temple over to his son, Solomon, who soon will be king, he reminds him that he will have problems but not to worry, because God will be with him along the way. David tells him that he will experience fear because of the huge task that is before him, and that that courage is not the absence of fear but the ability to act faithfully despite it. Solomon is reminded that God is faithful and will not leave him alone and will be with him every step of the way, helping him complete the temple.
Just like Solomon, God has a task for us, and we need stay strong and finish the work given to us. In 2 Timothy 4:7 Paul says, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” Sometimes we may feel overwhelmed, but any God-given task, no matter how great we feel it is, can be accomplished by putting our faith in God. He is the one who put it in our hearts to complete something for Him, and He is the one that will guide us and be there for us each step of the way.
Choose to trust that the Lord will be with you in any endeavor that He puts in your heart. Strengthen yourself for service, by starting the day with prayer and meditation in His word. Pray before you start a task and elicit the help of other believers. Act with a good will and a high heart, expecting to be helped as you ask, reminding yourself about the promises made by God. Think about how He has helped you through the small tasks and know that He will help you through the great ones. God gives you the strength, through faith in Him, and helps you finish His good works.
