Oh, give thanks to the Lord! Call upon His name; Make known His deeds among the peoples! 1 Chronicles 16:8 (NKJV)
To celebrate setting up the Ark of the Covenant in the tabernacle, David reads a song of thanksgiving to all the people to praise God and remind everyone all the great things the Lord had done for them. In his song, David encouraged the people to worship with joyful hearts, seek the Lord for guidance and strength, and declare God's mercy among the nations. David wanted his people to have an attitude of gratitude and proclaim the good news of His salvation from day to day.
Like David, an attitude of gratitude is not just for Sunday, but for each and every day. Colossians 3:15-17 says, “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” When our hearts are ruled by the peace of Christ, His presence and authority take the lead in our thoughts, emotions, and decisions. We can't help it, but have an attitude of gratitude, because our thoughts are on Jesus and all that He has done for us.
Choose to set your heart on Jesus and proclaim the good news of His salvation from day to day. Develop an attitude of gratitude toward God and intentionally choose to see His blessing, big and small, in every situation, and even in hardship. Cultivate gratitude by meditating on God’s Word, reflecting daily on His blessings, focusing on His grace, expressing thanks in all circumstances, and letting thankfulness guide your life. When you have an attitude of gratitude, you find peace in Jesus, and the world wants what you have.
