Who is this who darkens counsel by words without knowledge? Now prepare yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer Me. Job 38:2-3 (NKJV)
God begins his response to Job's suffering by highlighting His authority over salvation, challenging to Job to recognize the limits of human wisdom and to trust His sovereign, incomprehensible plans. God addresses Job directly, using the phrase 'darkens counsel by words without knowledge' to point out that Job’s speeches, though confident, are based on limited understanding. God is not accusing Job of sin but correcting a presumption. God then tells Job to prepare for a serious encounter to teach the vastness of His wisdom, inviting Job to confess what he truly knows, leading to honest self-examination and eventual repentance.
As believers we need to step back from demanding explanations for suffering, and approach God with humility and not just complaints. Romans 11:33 says, “Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable His judgments, and untraceable His ways!” Sometimes we just don't know why we are going through trials and tribulations, and that is when we need to be in awe before God’s inscrutable wisdom, prompting humility in recognizing human limitation. We still need to pray that God takes our burdens away from us, but we need to trust in God's wisdom and His plan for our lives. He may have us go through a hardship so that we can help many others with the same thing in the future, thus blessing us and those who we help.
Choose to trust in the Lord and recognize that His wisdom and plan for your life is better that you could ever imagine. Follow his guidance, even in the painful moments, knowing that they will lead to future blessings. Start by surrendering your understanding, acknowledging His work in your life, and anchoring yourself in His word. Pray for wisdom, seeking the Holy Spirit's guidance and listen to that inner voice. Seek wise, God-centered from trusted believers and replace anxiety with prayer and thanksgiving. Live with an eternal perspective, knowing that life on this earth is just a twinkling in the eye compared to the eternal peace and joy you will have with Jesus in heaven. When you make your life about the creator, and not the creature, you find wisdom, peace, and joy no matter what hardships you may go through.
