So it was, when he had turned his back to go from Samuel, that God gave him another heart; and all those signs came to pass that day. 1 Samuel 10:9 (NKJV)
Samuel anoints Saul who has been chosen by the Lord to be king over Israel. Samuel then gives a detailed account of what Saul will do from finding the donkey to the Spirit of the Lord coming upon him and prophesying with three prophets. As Saul turns away from Samuel to go, God gives him a new heart. This is a pivotal moment where God changes Saul's heart, leading to the fulfillment of signs that confirm his kingship. This transformation signifies God's sovereignty and His ability to prepare individuals for the tasks He calls them to. After Saul is done prophesying, everyone who knows him is astonished and admits that he is a different person.
Like Saul, God gives us a new heart when we accept Christ as our Lord and Savior. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new." This verse signifies the transformation that occurs when one accepts Christ, symbolizing a new heart and a new life. Once saved God calls us to do his work. It doesn't matter what it is because he prepares us for what we are to do. We change and become a better version of ourselves and the people around us see it.
