A Divided World

To Eber were born two sons: the name of one was Peleg, for in his days the earth was divided; and his brother’s name was Joktan. 1 Chronicles 1:19 (NKJV)

Peleg’s name means to divide, and in his days the earth was divided, referring to the dispersion of peoples and languages after the Tower of Babel (Genisis 11:1-9). This event marked the end of a unified family and the beginning of distinct nations with their own cultures and beliefs. But God had a plan to eventually bring all the people groups of the world back together as one family. Through Peleg's line, Abraham was born, which led to David, and the promise of the Messiah, Jesus Christ.

Even though our world is divided, God provides a way to bring all His children together through the death of His Son, Jesus Christ. John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." God loves every human being in this world, and He wants us all as one family living with Him in heaven for all eternity. When Jesus died for our sins on the cross, He made that possible. Through Jesus, a divided world no longer needs to be divided because all nations and cultures have a way to come together under one Messiah.

Choose to spread the message of the gospel and tell the world about what Jesus means to you. Make your life Christ-centered by living a life that reflects Christ's love and teachings, becoming a powerful witness to those around you. Share your personal story of how you came to know Jesus, how your faith has changed your life, and the hope you have found in Him. Ask God to give you opportunities to share your faith and to bring those who need salvation to you. Read the bible and familiarize yourself with key verses like John 3:16, so that you can share with an individual who wants to come to Jesus. Be ready to pray the sinner's prayer with them. Our world may be divided, but God provides the One and True Way to bring the world together again, Jesus.
